The Order of the Eastern Star was founded in 1850 by Rob Morris, an educator and lawyer. It approved as an appendant body of the Masonic Fraternity (1873). The Order of the Eastern Star is open to any man or woman 18 years of age or older. All members partake in community and charity work. While the order is based on teachings of the Bible, it is open to people of all faiths.
