Abstract
Nettie Brock and Steve Middleton discuss how rapid developments in technology have changed the process of media production. By creating widespread access to media creation tools, these changes have led to important improvements in the ways in which people work together, along with the new phenomenon of citizen journalism. On the other hand, not everyone has equal access, a digital divide remains, and there is the potential for creating misleading or manipulative content that has widespread influence. Digital fluency is not the same as digital literacy.
