The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was part of the American New Deal agency to provide employment in low-income areas, such as the Appalachian area. Most WPA projects were building construction and road work. The WPA ran from 1935-1943.
Federal Government paid $99,781 and the county paid $3,432.
