Back of photo reads as follows: Building a bridge during the Depression in Greenup County. The Federal Govt put up $217,118 for such county project and Greenup County paid $26,154. WPA project.
The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was part of the American New Deal agency to provide employment in low-income areas, such as the Appalachian area. Most WPA projects were building construction and road work. The WPA ran from 1935-1943.
