Donna Murphy was regarded as one of the top college players in the nation during 1977-78, leading her team with an average of 21.4 points and 15.2 rebounds per game. In 1977, she was chosen for the women's U.S.A. national team and was an All-American prospect in 1978.
Accompanied by her head coach, Robert "Mickey" Wells, the fall of 1978 marked his fourth season at Morehead State University's women's basketball team. He often says, "I try to recruit the best, both as an athlete and as a person."
