Abstract
I.D. Stamper spent a lifetime building and playing the Appalachian dulcimer. His playing style shows heavy blues influence and a rhythmic power and complexity rarely heard on this instrument. He is from Letcher County, Kentucky. He mastered the 5-string banjo and harmonica when he was a young boy, and when he was in his late 30's he began to build and play the dulcimer.
Stamper constructed over 500 instruments during his lifetime, with buyers from California to England.
