Abstract
Differences in culture and educational format present challenges in teaching international students. The technology in online courses often further increases these challenges. I am an international faculty member at a regional university in the southern United States, teaching in adult and higher education graduate programs. During the 2013-2014 academic year, these programs initiated a pilot project in which international graduate students from China pursued a master’s degree by taking face-to-face and online courses. As an instructor, I found teaching these students online both challenging and rewarding, and I share insights and practices of the experiences here.
