Abstract
By tradition this state, small both in population and size has marked the official opening of the run for the White House. There may have been earlier caucuses, candidates may have thrown their hats in the ring earlier, but it is New Hampshire that rivets the nation's attention. Voters' preferences in the Granite State defy simplistic analysis; more crow has been eaten by political pundits trying to ex plain away untoward primary results here than in any other state.
