Abstract
When I agreed to write an article for this special issue of The Register, I was unaware of the difficulty involved in the topic of myth and reality. Indeed, I soon discovered there is no consensus on the use of the word "myth." There are some who insist that it must not be confused with legend or folklore, both of which assume no religious background. In this paper I shall make no such distinction and will use the word myth to include any legendary narrative.
