Abstract
Counseling has become a popular and vital service in many corporate, federal and state agencies, as well in as educational institutions. In this article, the authors present a service learning project, in partnership with The People’s Clinic of Morehead, KY, that teams nursing students with nurse practitioners and patients to incorporate two learning objectives: (1) to apply student’s theoretical knowledge to the clinic patients through a series of personal health consulting sessions; and (2) to engage in service learning activities in order to serve vulnerable non-insured community members through one-on-one health consultation sessions.
