The first documented faculty meeting of Morehead Normal School, presently Morehead State University, was on the afternoon of February 8, 1904. The Faculty Senate, which was approved by the University Board of Regents on September 25, 1984, replaced the faculty meetings on November 1, 1984. Presently, the Faculty Senate is the elected representative body of the faculty that actively participates in the university's governance.
