Abstract
David Little discusses Aristotle's perspective on slavery and human inequality, with special reference to the historical circumstances in which he lived. Justin Spinks discusses Kant's view of human beings as ends-in-themselves who deserve to be treated with respect, with special attention to the idea of rights. The conversation turns to contemporary controversies about racism and political participation, in light of recent legislation designed to affect voter participation, and reflects on the assumptions behind democracy and the importance of education.
