Roman version of a piece from the 2nd or 1st century B.C.E. The original marble group is mostly missing, with the exception of the figure laying on the ground biting the limb of another unidentified figure. The boys had been using the small bones as dice in a gambling game, when a quarrel broke out between them.

Description

Plaster cast of a figure from two boys quarreling over a game of knucklebones. Original formerly in the Barberini Palace, Rome, now housed in the British Museum, circa 1st century A.D.
